DISCOVER OUR HIKES IN THE NORTH
The north of Tenerife is the area between the central mountain massif, on which the Teide is located, and the north coast of the island. Volcanic eruptions turned this whole area into a large slope that rises rapidly from the sea to 2000 metres altitude. Today, the north is still important with many banana plantations.
At about 600 metres, the plantations end abruptly and then turn into a green mountain zone and even higher up into pine forests. Due to its lush vegetation, this is an ideal hiking area and there are many trails in these forests.
NORTH COAST REGION
The north of Tenerife is fascinating. The region around Puerto de la Cruz and El Sauzal have many hiking opportunities and are worth exploring, especially if you want to get to know the true character of the island.
Among the many beautiful spots along the north coast is also Icod de Los Vinos. This is one of Tenerife's oldest towns, with a famous dragon tree (Drago Milenario) as its biggest attraction. It is believed that this tree is more than 1,000 years old.
TENO MOUNTAINS
The Macizo de Teno or Teno Massif is an area of deep ravines between high mountain walls. The Teno Massif is a volcanic relief and a REAL HIKING PARADISE.
In the Teno mountains lies the Teno Rural Park with an area of 8063 hectares, the Teno Natural Park is a protected nature reserve
